Mona Ghassemi, Ph.D., P.Eng.

Mona Ghassemi is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas). She is a nationally and internationally recognized scholar and academic leader with expertise in high-voltage engineering, dielectrics and electrical insulation, plasma science, power systems, and advanced power electronics.

Dr. Ghassemi leads a multidisciplinary research program addressing critical reliability challenges in energy, electrification, semiconductor and power-electronics packaging, aerospace systems, and extreme environments. As Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator, she has directed numerous sponsored research projects supported by federal agencies and industry, including the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, ARPA-E, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and Office of Naval Research. Her scholarly contributions include more than 228 refereed publications, including 97 journal papers, 125 conference papers, 2 Magazine, and 4 book chapters, and four Best Paper Awards.

Her accomplishments include three of the nation’s most competitive federal career honors: the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Research Program Award, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator Program Award. She has also been recognized among the world’s top 2% of scientists for consecutive years.

Dr. Ghassemi currently serves as Vice President–Administrative of the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society, following two years of service as Vice President–Technical in 2024 and 2025.
